Mobility: Opening Doors to the World

17 Jun 2026 - 17 Jun 2026

During my years at the International Relations Office, I have seen how international mobility transforms both students and staff. Whether our students travel abroad or international participants come to Trnava University, these experiences broaden horizons and create lasting personal and professional benefits.

The Erasmus+ programme is at the heart of these opportunities, allowing students to study or complete internships abroad. Yet mobility is about much more than academics. Living in a different country challenges students to become independent, solve everyday problems, adapt to new cultures, and build confidence. These experiences often reveal strengths they never knew they had.

Studying or working abroad also exposes participants to new ideas, perspectives, and friendships. They return home with valuable knowledge and inspiration while gaining a greater appreciation for both other countries and their own.

Erasmus+ is equally valuable for university staff. Teachers can participate in training, teaching assignments, or job shadowing, while administrative employees exchange best practices and discover new approaches to university management. These experiences strengthen professional skills and enrich the entire academic community.

An increasingly popular option is the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), which combines online collaboration with a short international stay, making mobility accessible even to those who cannot spend several months abroad. In addition, the KreativEU alliance offers new opportunities through conferences, hackathons, walking seminars, and other collaborative activities connecting participants from across Europe.

As Saint Augustine famously said, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” International mobility is more than travelling—it is an opportunity for personal growth, intercultural understanding, and becoming more connected with the world around us.
