A lot to discover within the educational measures taken for KreativEU

22 Jul 2025 - 31 Jul 2026

The coordinators of WP2 are delighted to present their current work. From course catalogue to joint courses to the Centre for Excellence in Digital Education and AI, there is a lot to discover within the educational measures taken for KreativEU.

Our ambitions – your benefits

For the pilot phase, the goal is to establish a pan-European campus with several hundred international courses, student conferences and colloquiums. Integrating cutting edge research with an intercultural understanding with the possibility to learn of and with each other. Not only will all members of our HEIs be involved but our education is supposed to cater for the public and associated partners with cross-institutional projects, which will create long-lasting effects in the public sphere.

On offer now

One of the major objectives of all partner institutions is to jointly offer educational experience for the 35,000 students gathered in the alliance. Such experience will be available in all cycles, i.e. on Bachelor, Master and PhD level, and Lifelong Learning. Transnational and interdisciplinary KreativEU label courses may take the form of individual courses, such as traditional lectures and seminars as well as innovative MOOCs, hackathons and summer schools. The first courses are being designed at present and will be offered from the upcoming autumn / winter semester. A call for such courses has recently been published.

On 17 July 2025, the first KreativEU ‘Master Mixer’ took place, at which three different draft concepts for Masters’ programmes within the alliance were presented: Sciences for Eco-Cultural Heritage, Responsible Urbanism and Cultural Heritage and Memory Studies. Due to lively participation, it quickly became clear that all proposals met the necessary criterion for a Joint Master's: at least one if not more partner universities case showed interest in collaborating. The next meetings are planned for September 2025, with announcements and invitations to follow soon.

Coming soon

The KreativEU alliance is developing a new Transnational Course Catalogue (CC) to make it easier for students to move between universities. The catalogue will be easily accessible and will feature all English-language courses offered by the alliance. Developed by Work Package 2 under the direction of the universities of Greifswald and Targoviste, the catalogue uses web technology and a common data format to facilitate the sharing of course information. Students can search and filter, while staff can contribute updates via a simple form. Most of the course data will be received automatically from the partners' catalogues. Launching at the end of August 2025, the CC will receive major updates twice yearly, with minor adjustments as needed. The aim of this application is to enhance course findability and promote student mobility.

Students are paramount to KreativEU. Accordingly, the two formats that have been designed for them, i.e. The Annual Student Conference and the Colloquium of PhD Students in Joint Doctoral Programmes will still take place this year, i.e. from 19 to 21 November 2025. Students will have the opportunity to get involved and co-create the Joint Doctoral Programmes and Student Conferences of the coming years. They will also be trained in practical skills relevant for excelling in these events as well as good scientific practice. Even more, the events will be one of the first opportunities for KreativEU students to meet – online and in person at local events organised at all partner institutions.

Plans for 2026

While the Course Catalogue will be launched soon, another core part of WP2 remains conceptual: a support structure for staff and students at all partner institutions, implemented as two centres on the KreativEU digital campus. The Centre for Excellence in Digital Education and AI will equip academic staff with skills in digital education and intercultural teaching. The Career Centre will offer upskilling for employability and practical training, including physical or virtual mobility, for students and alumni. Currently, the WP2 team is mapping existing relevant structures. This involves identifying training courses, tools, and best practices for both centres, alongside existing entrepreneurship, marketing, and business-related courses. Resources are being gathered for potential integration into the centres’ concepts.

Work continues on developing opportunities for PhD students. A concept for Joint Doctoral Programmes is being developed, allowing students to research seamlessly at partner universities. The Joint Supervision Pool will offer guidance from a wide range of professors and academics, ensuring excellent support throughout their studies and research. To further enhance collaboration, the Cotutelle Framework Agreement will allow students to be enrolled at two institutions and receive degrees from both. This fosters closer cooperation between KreativEU partners and enhances the quality of cross-cultural and international research in heritage, eco-culturality and technology.

Impact

All in all, the measures depicted will have a major impact on the KreativEU partner institutions and their students and academic staff alike. They will foster their transnational and transdisciplinary educational experience and enhance their comprehension of cultural heritage and eco-cultural identity. The instruments developed will not only support KreativEU in creating their own pan-European campus but will be shared with all HEI in Europe so that they may also benefit from the achievements made.

The members of WP2 are looking forward to implementing all their plans in the future. If you would like to know more about the work within WP2, you are welcome to contact us via kreativeu-at-ug@uni-greifswald.de. Do not hesitate to ask your questions as the team is happy to answer them.
